Which brings me to today's post. My Mr. Right and I have been able to pick out the fuzzy black and white lines on the screen, so there isn't really any surprising us, but announcing it to everyone else is still a lot of fun. With Little Monkey we sent a picture message of My Mr Right holding a Tonka truck and the message that soon we would be playing trucks in the dirt with our little boy about an hour after our ultrasound. This time, we waited a little longer and held everyone in suspense for a few days. And since we live a lot closer to my parents this time around, they thought they were going to die from curiosity. We had Little Monkey help with the big announcement this time. Before I spill the beans on that, here are some other ideas on announcing which team your little womb-dweller is on.

Those are just a few ideas. Google "baby gender reveal" or search on Pinterest. Oh man, there's tons of ideas. You can click the links below the photos for more info on each idea.
We revealed our little one's gender in a couple ways. My Mr Right and I went to Monterey, California the weekend before our anatomy scan. Little Monkey stayed with Grandma and Grandpa. While he was there, he watched an Elmo DVD about cooking. He learned how to spell hot. We decided to try and teach him (help him memorize) how to spell his new sibling's gender. We weren't sure if he would be able to pull it off. When we asked him, he wasn't always consistent with his spelling. But, leave it to my champ! Little Monkey got to tell Grandma that we are having a B-O-Y! We also made soft pretzels and colored one of them blue. My Mr Right didn't believe me that it would work and so we only did one. My youngest sister thought since it was the only one, it must be growing mold and wouldn't eat it. Ironically, they were still warm from the oven...
This is how we announced the news on our family blog.
[The little munchkin was face up the whole ultrasound,
except with the tech was taking the images she gave us.
The whole ultrasound was kinda disappointing... but that's a whole 'notha story.]
This photo is how we announced it to family and friends on Facebook.
My Mr. Right's family just got phone calls. He's not very creative... Sorry guys.
Do you have any great ways to announce the gender?

I love the idea of having a gender reveal party where everyone finds out at the same time a little bit later in the pregnancy (maybe when you would do a baby shower?). I saw the cake reveal on cake boss and had a friend do the gender reveal with balloons - I love all these ideas too. Congrats on your new little boy!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! We didn't find out the gender with our third boy, but we announced that we were having another baby by having BOTH boys wear "big brother" shirts. It took some people awhile to notice that our 2nd son was a big brother too!
ReplyDeleteAwe, I love gender reveal stories too. I believe it's a really sweet thing to do, put so much time and effort into making it special.
