Our newest rice cooker has a steam tray and I love it! It makes this recipe even easier. Thanks for mentioning it!

The ketchup does give it a teriyaki flavor. I'm sure it is not a traditional recipe for teriyaki sauce, but it tastes good and it's quick, easy and most people have the ingredients on hand. As with any recipe, make adjustments to suit your tastes.

I have never heard of the sauce made with ketchup. This is not a traditional sauce which I prefer. To me this is really not teriyaki sauce without adding ginger, garlic and eliminating the Ketchup.

That sauce is delicious! Such simple ingredients too! I didn't use your cooking method, I just fried the cooked brown rice and veggies together, then tossed in the chicken. Poured the sauce over it all once it was warmed. Found this on Pinterest by the way. Will be making this again for sure.

I throw mine in frozen, but it is precooked. If your chicken is still raw, I'd thaw it out first. I'm not sure if a rice cooker gets hot enough to thoroughly cook raw chicken though. If you try it, definitely double check the chicken before you eat it. If you're doing it on the stove, you should be fine.
