Thank the lord. The front loader needed to drain before I could open the door to throw that stray sock in. With the top loader, just hit pause throw it in and continue on.

After trying everything, I eventually called a repairman. $95 and 15 minutes later I found out that the hose was too far into the drain. Apparently if the hose is too far in, it causes a vacuum of sorts and the washer won’t drain/spin or unlatch. Maybe that could be the same problem? Thanks for the tips on washer cleaning!

I did the steps a little differently – used a paste of baking soda and water to scrub the inside, then filled it full of hot water and added my vinegar. Smells good! Now, on to the dishwasher…
