To answer your question, Blogger has a spam filter and it seems to do pretty well. Any comments it thinks might be spam are filtered to a separate tab in the comments section. You still have access to them and can publish any of them that aren’t spam.

I have had a few spam comments, mostly those that have hyperlinks in them and they link to a commercial site. Often times, they are posted in broken English and say something nice about the post and then have a little blurb with a hyperlink that is completely irrelevant. Sometimes those ones slip by. But, because I receive all my comments to my email, they are easy to spot and go in and mark as spam. I haven’t had one of those slip through in over two months.

I definitely think that two or three annoying spam comments every so often are worth all the other real comments I get.

My question was: Did you see an increase in spam after turning off word verification? Because the reason for word verification is supposed to be to prevent spambots from leaving comments.
