It tends to roll with them more than letting them roll inside of it. My middle guy has a chronic case of kicking the covers off and this actually works well for him. He can still do all his moving around (he's a ridiculously restless sleeper), but it still keeps him warm - which means I can sleep through the night. If you attached a pillow it may move around a lot, but I don't know for sure. If your kiddo isn't a big mover it would probably be fine.

I want to make something like this for my 2.5yo son for summer camping (in Virginia) and indoor sleepovers. Love the idea of using throw kit. I'm totally looking for something easy. I was considering omitting the zipper and leaving extra cloth on the bottom for a "pillow", but fleece is generally hard to move in. How do your boys sleep in it? Do they roll inside it or does it all roll with them?

What a great idea with the buttons! I bet they turned out super adorable. My middle little guy is also a wild sleeper and doesn't love the zipper (although I was secretly hoping it would keep him under the blankets and out of my bed because he gets cold! No such luck, darn). What lucky grand kiddos you have!

I used this as a guideline, but omitted the zipper. My grandkids, age 6/9, are both WILD sleepers, so the zipped in feeling makes them a little leery of sleeping in a regular bag. I made the fleece into a giant 2 sided blanket (2 yards of 60" fabric used crosswise to get more width) and made buttons to button through if they want a bag. They can button as few or many as they want, or just have a huge blanket for snuggling at Grandmas! I used velcro on a previous bag for the closure, and it didn't work well. When it isn't used, it's scratchy! Buttons are just cute! Both kids - boy and girl - LOVE them and makes sleeping on the floor an adventure.
