You don’t have to bake it after it’s all mixed together, unless it’s not as warm as you would like it. I usually don’t bake it. After it’s all mixed together, it’s the perfect temperature for my kids. If hubby or I want it warmer, I warm our portions in the microwave since we don’t always get to sit and actually eat at the same time the kids do (we still have little ones that need to be fed). If you won’t be serving it right away, you can bake it, covered, for 15-20 mins on 350°F to keep it warm. Hope that clarifies things.

I usually use a 1 lb package, but we like ours a little thicker. I add about half a (soup) can of milk or so. My mom adds a whole can. I bake mine covered with the glass lid for the casserole dish, but I’ve done it uncovered too. If you like a creamier casserole, you could definitely add more milk or the ingredients you mentioned above. Thanks!
