18 Spooktacular Halloween Ideas

How did October sneak up on me so fast?!  Well, it’s here, whether we’re ready or not and, at While He Was Napping, that means October Spooktacular is under way.  This is the 5th year of this series and I thought I’d do a little recap of the last four years before I jump in with more fun Halloween projects!  So, for your Halloween inspiration, here’s some of my favorite past October Spooktacular projects:

HALLOWEEN FOODS
A great round up of super cute and totally doable cookie ideas
Spider Web Nacho Plate, easy and delicious!
Tombstone Cupcakes
10 Halloween Treats (that aren’t candy!)
HALLOWEEN DECOR

DIY Halloween Night Light

Beyond easy Batty Lamp

The perfect compliment to your Batty Lamp… A Bat Invasion!

DIY Vinyl Witch Silhouette

Cheese Cloth Ghosts – even the kids can do this one

Another easy one – Googly Eye Frame (fill with spooky silhouettes or past Halloween photos)

I love a cutesy little witch and what’s a witch without her broom? The DIY Life-Size Broom still makes an appearance every year.

You can’t have a broom and no hat!  This No-Sew Witch Hat takes about 24 hours to make (including drying time) and works as decor and head wear.

And if a broom and hat still isn’t enough, give your witch a place to mix up her potions and the ingredients for them with a set of DIY Potion Bottles.

Finish off your witch decor with the DIY Spell Books she’ll need to mix up those potions!

HALLOWEEN PRINTABLES

Get the Halloween Countdown Calendar with a fun activity for each day!  Just print it out, a little slicing with an exacto, and you’re set for some fun all month long.  (Most of these activities are geared toward 3-5 year olds, but simple adjustments could be made for older kids too).
A printable version of one of my favorite typography pieces
Dress up your party treats with this free Halloween Party Sampler Pack.  Printable bunting, cupcake toppers and water bottle wrappers will get the party started on a spooky note.
I got into chalkboard art last year.  It’s so fun, but can be such a mess.  And my kids think it’s hilarious to destroy an hour and a half of work in a single swipe of the hand.  On the plus side, my tears get that chalkboard pretty clean.  So, here’s a mess-free and much more permanent version of my Halloween Chalkboard Poem.

Stay tuned for more Halloween fun all October long!  Use the options below to follow and subscribe so you won’t miss a single thing!

I'm Krista. Ringleader here on While He Was Napping, wife to my handsome Mr. Right & momma to my THREE energetic boys, Big J (9), Little J (6) & Little N (4). We FINALLY added a beautiful little girl to our family last December.

I’m knee-deep in Tonka trucks & Thomas trains. I survive our crazy days with Vanilla Coke, Sonic slushies, sweet snuggles and little giggles. When I tuck them in tight & kiss them good night, I get a little time to create & just be me.
