Easy Parmesan Garlic Knots: The Perfect Appetizer

As your family gathers around the dinner table, the tantalizing smell wafting through out the room, the main course often gets the spotlight. But, I promise these Easy Parmesan Garlic Knots will steal the show. And they are incredibly easy to make.

I’m trying to make more balanced meals this year – and some days that means simply making more than just a main course. I mixed up this Parmesan Garlic Knot recipe and my family has requested them 3 times over the past month! The whole family loves Parmesan Garlic Knots! And, really, can you blame them?!

Garlic Knots with Ragu Sauce SMVertical

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THESE PARMESAN GARLIC KNOTS

My favorite thing about these Parmesan Garlic Knots is instead of taking 8 or 12 hours to make like some of the bread recipes I’ve tried before, they only take 4 hours. And they fit right into your schedule if you’re planning a day at home already. That might sound like a lot of time, but active prep time is 30-45 minutes and the rest of it is just waiting to the dough to rise and the knots to bake.

You can mix up the dough in the morning and do the morning chores while the dough does its first rise. Cutting the dough and tying them into the knots is super easy and only takes about 10 minutes. While the garlic knots work on their second rise, throw in a load of laundry, feed the kids lunch and prepare the yummy butter garlic topping. Put the topping on and then bake those knots. Your home will smell like heaven. And garlic. To me, those are synonymous.

And you’ll have some amazing appetizers to go along with dinner. Who doesn’t love good bread, especially during these cold wintry months.

PARMESAN GARLIC KNOTS: PERFECT FOR DIPPING

These Parmesan Garlic Knots pair perfectly with soups, dips and sauces! I’m not a huge fan of dipping sauces with my bread, but I love to dip them in a good soup! My boys, including my husband, LOVE dipping their breads!

Garlic Knots with Ragu Sauce SMHorizontal

Go super simple and dip in a marinara or alfredo sauce. Or kick it up a notch with a little bacon ranch dip. I really love these with a good hearty potato soup or cheddar veggie soup too. Or just eat one. Or two… or three.

HOW EASY ARE PARMESAN GARLIC KNOTS? TAKE A LOOK.

Feed Your Family and Save Money with FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer + Nachos recipe

I would like to thank Jarden Consumer Solutions for sponsoring this post. I was provided with a FoodSaver vacuum sealer and sealing material in exchange for this post. All content is mine, 100% original and true. Pinky promise.

I have 3 boys, and a six foot three husband, who eat ALL. THE. TIME. Keeping them fed is no small task, physically or on our wallets. That’s why we buy in bulk when possible.

The problem has always been buying meat and fresh fruits and veggies. We didn’t really have a good way to store them and keep them fresh when we bought them in bulk.

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Buying in Bulk

That’s why I’m so excited about our new FoodSaver FM5000 vacuum sealer. We can buy meat and fresh fruits and veggies in bulk, seal them up, and freeze them for later. It’s much for effective and efficient than our previous method and the food is fresher when we pull it out to use it.

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Buying in Bulk Ground Beef

I did a quality test with our new FoodSaver vacuum sealer. We have bought our ground beef in bulk for several years now. We used to divide it, then wrap it in plastic wrap and put 3-4 sections of meat into a ziptop bag. Then we put the whole package in the freezer. It worked fine, but the meat always turned brown before we used it. Even if it was just a couple of weeks after we bought it.

The FoodSaver vacuum sealer cut out the plastic wrap and the bag. And it kept our meat fresher! This meat had been in the freezer for 4 weeks. It was still red with just a bit of brown and was still very fresh.

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Fresher Food from the Freezer

We decided to make nachos for dinner one night. We used the meat we put in the freezer, cooked up some beans, and cut up some toppings for a delicious dinner.

It was a hit! And I loved how fresh the meat was still, even after 4 weeks!

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Nachos

FOODSAVER VACUUM SEALER – NOT JUST FOR FOOD!

My favorite part of the FoodSaver vacuum sealer is that you can use it for more than just food.

  • Seal up your favorite sweaters during the months you aren’t wearing them to keep them in good shape.
  • Cook your food ahead of time and seal it for camping trips for super easy meals. Just warm it up.
  • Seal ice in a bag and you’ve got water storage when it melts.
  • We are going to Disneyland next month and will be taking a pair of each of our boys’ clothes and sealing it in a vacuum pouch to keep it dry.

NOT ALL FOODS SHOULD BE SEALED

There’s lots of things you can still with the FoodSaver vacuum sealer, but there’s a few things you shouldn’t seal. Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and garlic are a few things you should never seal. The gases created by these foods over time are toxic and will make the food go bad.

You can find more info on the FoodSaver vacuum sealers HERE.
We like to put cilantro lime rice on our nachos and tacos too. I love that it’s a super easy recipe you do in your rice cooker. Check it out. See our nacho recipe below. Enjoy!

Santa’s Stationary Printable – A New Tradition

Christmas is on it’s way! The shoppers are shopping, the halls are being decked and Santa is checking that naughty and nice list again. You might think Santa doesn’t have time to keep up with his correspondence, but a letter on Santa’s Stationary is one of those little things that makes Christmas magic.

Every year, Santa would leave my siblings and I a letter after he’d stopped at our house, dropped off our presents, eaten our cookies and fed his reindeer the carrots we’d left out. I don’t remember exactly what any of those letters said, but I sure do remember getting them! It’s a tradition we have in our home with our boys now too. It’s a tradition I love!

SANTA’S STATIONARY
Santas Stationary in Mailbox

Big J came home from preschool last week and asked “How come Santa doesn’t love us?”

Uhm, say what, little 4-year-old? and my Mommy Brain started trying to formulate lies excuses ways to explain the deep, dark questions a 4-year-old has about Santa Claus. The ultimate mommy moment.

Where was this coming from? Finally, he asked, “How come Santa doesn’t send an elf to watch us?” Ah ha! Finally, we were getting somewhere. Turns out, somebody at school had been telling him about their Elf on the Shelf and he wondered why we don’t have one too.

I am NOT a fan of Elf on the Shelf, but I’ll save you my ranting on the subject. Explanations bounced around in my head of ways to answer my 4-year-old and I settled on telling him that Santa didn’t have enough elves to send one to our house. He needed all the elves he could get to help keep the workshop running so there weren’t extras.

I added in, “Santa must know you can be good all by yourself and you don’t need an elf to watch you.” Famous last words there, Momma! Big J seemed to accept that a little halfheartedly and ran off to play. The end.

Or was it? Mommy guilt ate away at me. I thought for about .00000001 nanoseconds about caving into Elf on the Shelf. But there had to be a better alternative that didn’t involve a creepy doll and more work for me.

This idea hit as I was cleaning up in Big J’s room and found a little note I’d written him. A note from Santa himself would be way better than a bug-eyed elf doll, right? But, it had to be official, so I designed up so North Pole Note Cards straight from the Big Man’s desk.

He has loved getting his little notes. And, the best part is that I explained up front that Santa only leaves notes when he gets the time. So, if I’m too busy or forget to leave a note one morning? Guess Santa had a lot of work to do getting ready for Christmas. And, if Big J has had a rough day, he might get a little reminder that the nice list isn’t set in stone (like the note in the mailbox in the photo…) and he better shape up soon.

Santa-s-Letter1

Side note: I had a small mailbox from Target’s dollar section I got around Valentine’s Day one year and that’s what we use to deliver Santa’s notes, but here’s one on Amazon that would do the trick. Also, the notes can come any time.  First thing in the morning, after preschool, after lunch, during nap time, whenever Momma Santa wants to…

No stress and it’s fun for my kiddo.  I takes a couple of minutes to write the note and that’s it… My kind of tradition. Want to start your own Notes From Santa tradition?

Get your own copies of Santa’s Stationary with the downloads below.  They are high resolution and available as full-size sheets or note cards.  If you share this printable, please link back to this blog post and not the download page.  Kay?  Thanks.

I'm Krista. Ringleader here on While He Was Napping, wife to my handsome Mr. Right & momma to my THREE energetic boys, Big J (9), Little J (6) & Little N (4). We FINALLY added a beautiful little girl to our family last December.

I’m knee-deep in Tonka trucks & Thomas trains. I survive our crazy days with Vanilla Coke, Sonic slushies, sweet snuggles and little giggles. When I tuck them in tight & kiss them good night, I get a little time to create & just be me.
