Weekend Wander #10

Hey everyone… Here’s the link party for this weekend.  It’s gonna stay up until Monday the 27th, so it’ll be next weekend’s linky too.  If you happen to be browsing in your free time, come join the party.  I will most likely be spending time with my family though.  Also, come back and link up anything you complete between now and then.  Let’s get to it.

<a   href=”http://whilehewasnapping.blogspot.com”> <img   src=”http://i769.photobucket.com/albums/xx332/WhileHeWasNapping/WHWNWeekendWanderButton.png”   >

Please help spread the word!  Thanks!

The Rules:
1. All links MUST  be family friendly.  Or I will  delete it.

I  would  love for you to become a  follower.  It’s the little button on the  side  bar that says  “Follow”.  =]   I would also appreciate any help in spreading the word  about Weekend Wander… that’s what the cute little  button below is  for.  If you like what you see and plan on being a regular, I’d love for  you to add my name to your link party  list (who   doesn’t have one of  those, right!?!) or my button to your  blog, but no pressure.

However,   by  linking, you are giving me  permission  to use your photos in a  feature of your project.  Of  course, this feature will include a link  back to the original post.  Thanks!

12 Days til Christmas: Terra Cotta Candy Jar

I’d seen these floating around blogland since like Halloween.  I was in love.  How cute, right?  I’m not sure where I first saw the idea, but I’ve seen them on a couple blogs.  Cute, but we have incredibly limited space at the moment.  So, make them and gift them!  Woo.  Lucky, lucky sister-in-law and friends!  Yes, I made two.  I only took pictures of the one, and unfortunately, they were only finished pictures.  I was in such a frenzy trying to get everything done, I didn’t take “during pictures”.  Sorry.
Here’s the how to:
1.  You will need a terra cotta pot, a pot base, a glass fish bowl and a round cabinet knob.
2.  Paint your pot, pot base and knob.
3.  Turn the pot upside down and glue the glass bowl to the bottom of the pot.  I used LocTite glue, the same glue I used on these Hurricane Vases.  Let sit for at least 24 hours.  Also turn the pot base upside down.  Glue the knob to the base.  Let that sit too.
4.  Fill the bowl with candy, nuts, or whatever you want.  Tie with a ribbon and gift.
This pot I painted the rim of the pot white.  I also cut out vinyl (“candy” on one and “treats” on the other).  That’s up to you if you want to do those steps or not.
If you were given this gift, stop.  Unless you want to know what a cheapskate I am…
Cost Breakdown:
The cabinet knob we got at Lowe’s for $.99 and the pot base for $1.29.  We got the pot for $1.69.  The fish bowls for $2 at the thrift store.

12 Days til Christmas: Church ABC Picture Book

Here’s a cute, quick and (hopefully) quiet-inducing stocking stuffer for your little tykes.  Little Monkey will be receiving this in his stocking.  This is an LDS-themed ABC Picture Book.  This was pretty easy to throw together in Photoshop, took me about an hour an a half or so.  Most of the pictures come from the Gospel Art Book that is available for download HERE.  I also used some pictures we have taken (like for E and F).  There were a few that I had to find photos for.  I just Googled those.  Here are a few of the pages.

What little tot wouldn’t love this?  Not sure how long it will hold Little Monkey’s attention… but if it can get us through the Sacrament, I’d be one happy momma and very satisfied with the time spent on it!  I found this idea at Oopsey Daisy and she has hers available to download and print.  I wanted the letters and the pictures all on one page so I didn’t have to find a 54 page photo album (title pages included, I know 26+26=52, not 54.  Hehehe).  It also meant less pages to cut out and less ink used.  Printer ink isn’t cheap and I’m printing a lot this holiday season, so less is more for me. If you try this and get stuck on any letters (like X… hmmm?), let me know and I’ll add the list of words I used for each letter.  Enjoy.  Happy Gift Making!

12 Days til Christmas: Christmas Hurricanes

Ok, remember these…….?

If not, check it out here.  Well, I told you they’d be back for Christmas.  Christmas is my most favorite holiday, even more than my birthday.  =]  Hehe.  Of course I have to decorate for Christmas and I’m still loving my Dollar Store Hurricanes (see tutorial here).  Anyywwaays…
I was browsing through Pottery Barn’s website… and look what I found!  Inspiration!
Source

Here are my Christmas Hurricanes!

Thank you Dollar Store and Target dollar section.  I love it.  I wish I could have found a little taller red candle… but I wasn’t going to pay $7.00 for a candle.  Sorry.  The choice was between a $7 candle and more stocking stuffers…. Chocolate owns my heart far more than candles do.  It wasn’t even really a choice.

Happy Holidays!

I'm Krista. Ringleader here on While He Was Napping, wife to my handsome Mr. Right & momma to my THREE energetic boys, Big J (9), Little J (6) & Little N (4). We FINALLY added a beautiful little girl to our family last December.

I’m knee-deep in Tonka trucks & Thomas trains. I survive our crazy days with Vanilla Coke, Sonic slushies, sweet snuggles and little giggles. When I tuck them in tight & kiss them good night, I get a little time to create & just be me.
