Family Movie Night with #BigPizzeriaTaste

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and TONY’S® Pizza, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BigPizzeriaTaste http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV”

Things have been a bit hectic around here lately.  I feel like I’ve been saying that a lot.  Our routine has been off and it got even more off-kilter when Big J was home sick for a whole week and the other two boys were sick this past week.  I’m assuming that sometime this week I will be stricken with the plague of death because how many days can you really have people sitting on you and coughing in your face all day long before you catch it too?  I don’t know for sure, but I’m betting seven days is too many.  The the tickle in my throat can’t just be coincidence.

In the midst of all that sharing, life still marched on.  Big J returned to school, laundry had to be done, dishes washed and dinner still had to be made.  About 10 days into the plague’s residence in our home I was exhausted and decided I needed an evening off.  We had planned to do a movie night the Friday before, but my boys (and I!) were ready for bed early that night and I didn’t want to try to convince them to sit through a movie.  It was the perfect time for a family movie night!  It was also the perfect time for TONY’S® Pizza for dinner!

Tony's Pizza Family Movie Night Hero

How can you argue with a delicious dinner that is ready in 5 minutes of prep and 20 mins of cook time?  It doesn’t get much easier than that!  And Tony’s Pizza is now 30% larger, so I can feed my whole gang with just two pizzas.  There’s usually even leftovers for lunch the next day.  My favorite kind of dinner!  Tony’s Pizza is made with real cheese and the sauce has Italian-style herbs mixed into, lending to the delicious authentic big pizzeria taste we love about Tony’s Pizzas.  I grabbed our pizzas at Wal-Mart while doing some other shopping; it was super convenient to not have to make an extra trip to an extra store.

Tony's Pizza Family Movie Night Easy Dinner Ideas

Would you like to try the new 30% larger Tony’s Pizzas with your next movie night?  I love that it is so easy to spend time with my family, while giving them something they enjoy.  Tony’s Pizzas are perfect for easy, memory-making fun, like movie or game nights.  But, I also love having a couple pizzas stashed in the freezer for those nights when dinner is more of a hassle than memorable family time.  It makes my night less stressful when I’ve already got my hands full.  Print out your coupon and SAVE  $0.75 off any TWO (2) Tony’s Pizza (14.14 oz or larger).  The Walmart digital coupon is available until 06/30/15, while supplies last.  Get more info on Tony’s Pizzas on their website or keep up with the latest and greatest with Tony’s on Facebook.

Recycle Your Period Pad in the Garden!

We’re going to get a little personal today… and talk about how to recycle your period pad.  If your first thought just now was “EWW, GROSS!” I get it!  That was my first thought too, but it’s not what you think.  We talking unused pads here, ladies.

underwear

Did you know that 1 in 3 women suffer from  light bladder leakage?  That’s a lot of women.  Are you one of them…?  I am the first to admit that having kids has… shall we say… left it’s mark?  I never before in my whole life had a lick of heartburn… until I was pregnant.  I rarely get it now, unless I’m pregnant.  Have kids is rough on a body!  My feet are wider, I have stretch marks that look like a miniature grand canyon, I can’t seem to get rid of the last post-baby muffin top, don’t even get me started on my girls.  And sneezing in public has become a serious crisis.  I love my kids more than life itself, but it’s pretty safe to say that they have irreversibly changed my body, and not in ways that I particularly love.  Regardless, I wouldn’t trade a single one of them.  Most days.

So, I have had to learn how to deal with these changes by keeping a bottle of antacids in the medicine cabinet for the heartburn, getting bigger shoes for my fat feet.  I’ve taken to longer shirts to hide my personal grand canyon and layering so my muffin top isn’t a focus point.  A supportive bra with ridiculously thick straps has joined the journey too.  And Poise Light Bladder Leakage ultra thin pads for those dreaded sneeze attacks.  My mom warned me about the leaky pee, but you can really only grasp the horror if you’ve experienced it.  Standing in line at Target when a sneeze catches you off guard and the warmth spreads, but not a good warmth, will make you wish they had self checkouts so you could pretend you don’t exist, pay for your stuff and get the heck out of there without making eye contact with anyone!  Or should you go find new panties and pants and just throw your unfortunate outfit in the restroom trash?  Can people smell it?!  If you’ve ever had your own horrific moment, listen up.  I’ve got something to share with you!

Poise LBL liners and pads need to find a place in your life.  No one else has to know; it can be your own little secret if you want, I promise.  The new liners are 40% thinner than the previous Poise liners.  Designed to move with your body, new Poise Thin-Shape pads feature super absorbent material and a Thin-Flex design for extraordinary protection that’s still three times drier than period pads to help you take care of leaks.  They can handle a small crack in the dam wall or complete annihilation of the wall.  Sounds pretty magical, right?  Poise wants you to try these out for FREE and experience the magic yourself!

Light Bladder Leakage can be cause by lots of things.  In my case, it’s probably a combination of things, including growing a watermelon on my bladder and then expelling said watermelon through a grape-sized hole… three times.  Whatever causes your leaks, you deserve the best.  Maxi pads are not the answer.  They are period pads… for your PERIOD!  Poise has designed their LBL liners specifically for those 1 in 3 women who experience uninvited leaks.  There are varying levels of protection available so you don’t have to wear more than you need, nor do you have to worry about overflow.  If you experience Light Bladder Leakage, try Poise new Thin-Shape Liners designed specifically for the issue for free by requesting a sample kit!

Recycle Your Period Pad Gardening Supplies

So, what about all those period pads?!  Well, you could save them for your period.  Or you could use them in your gardening!  I am finally getting my act together and getting our garden planted.  I used cardboard egg cartons to start our seeds last year and they didn’t do very well.  The cardboard just sucked the water right up and a lot of the seeds didn’t stay wet enough.  So this year, I saved a bunch of yogurt containers and our SunnyD single-serving bottles to plant in.  These seem to have worked great!  I guess I’ll have to let you know in a couple weeks.

Recycle Your Period Pad Gardening with Maxi Pads

After I had a thin layer of potting soil in the containers, I cut up a couple maxi pads into strips and stuck them in the containers to help catch and retain water.  Then I dropped the seeds in on top of the pads.  I covered that up with dirt.  I left one end of the pad poking up the side of the container so I can tell if it’s drying out too much and I need to water more.  Between the plastic containers and the water retention method, hopefully, now all my seeds will sprout this year!  While this wouldn’t work well with a plant you want to send down roots, I’m just trying to to get the seeds to sprout so I can transplant.  If you are using a rooting plant, put your maxi strip at the bottom, before the soil.  So, what will you do with your unused period pads?

Recycle Your Period Pad Gardening with Maxi Pads

Recycle your period pad!  Don’t forget to request your free sample of Poise LBL liners!  Now, go, go, go!  Get ’em while you can!  Because every woman should live with poise!

Free Printable Chore Charts

I was over on Ask Anna again yesterday with a free printable project I hope will help our summer routine go a little more smoothly: chore charts.  I have plans for this summer that include a summer ‘homeschool’ of sorts, complete with fun field trips and learning activities.  Since my schedule has become more demanding and I’ve made the switch to working from home, it has become blindingly apparent that I need a schedule and a routine.  Otherwise, I get nothing done with constant interruptions from my kids.  So, instead of parking my boys in front of the TV for hours and hours with them interrupting me every 20 minutes and my days ending with everyone on edge and tired, I’ve got a plan.  A plan that includes chore charts.

Free Kids' Chore Chart Printables

You can head over to Ask Anna and get your own set of chore charts.  There are two styles: a rocket ship and a princess themed chart.  Download and make as many copies as you need.  You can laminate them and reuse them if you want.

My kids have been doing pretty well with them so far.  I discovered pretty quickly that it was more motivation for them if they got to mark off the boxes themselves.  I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to try to figure out a reusable way for them to do that or if I should just print off new charts so they can mark them off each week.

Blank Weekly Planner

I plan to pair these with my weekly planner (also on Anna’s site) and use them to keep us on track this summer.  I’m working on putting together my “lesson plans” so if you want some fun, themed learning activities to do with your kids this summer, make sure to follow me on social media (Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | Instagram | Google+ | RSS Feed) or sign up to get posts in your inbox at the top of the sidebar so you don’t miss anything.  It’s gonna be awesome and you won’t want to miss it.  Promise.  Now, go check out those chore charts!

SunnyD Plastic Bottle Upcycle to Watering Can

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.  #WhereFunBegins #CollectiveBias

Summer is coming!  We have had AAHH-mazing weather the past week or so and, with our backyard landscaping almost done, we have been loving being outside more!  Big J was home sick last week and even he spent some time outside.  It was just too perfect not to!  I am super excited to be able to start hosting backyard BBQ parties and s’mores nights.  And that’s just where fun begins…  We did a fun plastic bottle upcycle that will get the kids helping out in the yard too!

SunnyD Plastic Bottle Upcycle to Watering Can

Materials:
– Empty SunnyD 6.75oz bottle
– Washi Tape
– Push Pin
– Glue or Tape (to help seal the washi tape)
– Scissors

SunnyD Bottle Watering Can Upcycle Materials

Directions:
1. Begin your plastic bottle upcycle by washing out the bottle the lid.  Dry the outside of the bottle off.  Remove the label.

2. Start at the top and wrap your washi tape around the bottle.  Pull it tight and press out the creases as you go.

3. Repeat step 2 with each layer of washi tape until you reach the bottom of the bottle.

4. Seal the washi tape with a layer of glue.  I used Elmer’s Glue-All.  It’s not water-proof, but it’s water resistant once dry.

5. Use the push pin to poke holes in the lid of the bottle.  Placement doesn’t really matter all that much.  Make fun designs if you want.  I didn’t.  But I might have to make more with fun designs…

6. When the glue is dry, fill the bottle with water and put the lid back on.

That’s it.  Easy peasy, and there’s your plastic bottle upcycle.  You will have to squeeze the bottle to get the water to come out, which has it’s pros and cons.  I really like that I can send my kids out to water the flowers with one of these and they won’t completely drown them.  They work well in water fights and in the bathtub too!  Just saying…

SunnyD Bottle Watering Can Upcycle Watering

Want to try your own plastic bottle upcycle into a watering can?  Here’s the details… I found my 24-pack of SunnyD at Sam’s Club in super convenient 6.75 ounce bottles, perfect individual size servings for play dates, outings, lunches and picnics.  And for giving the flowers a drink.  And right now (through the first week in August) they are on Rollback for $5.38!  You might find the new 24-packs on a featured endcap, but I found mine in the refrigerated section.

SunnyD is perfect for summer fun.  Whether it’s at the pool, a backyard BBQ, or a fun trip to the park, SunnyD will keep you going from one fun sunshiny day to the next.  It’s a great alternative to soda at your gatherings with friends and family.  I loved SunnyD as a kid and it’s so much fun to be able to share it now with my own kids.  Check out more fun with SunnyD – where fun begins!  Which one is your favorite?

Celebrate MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron with the Super Heroes Assemble App

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

In my house full of testosterone, I am up to my eyebrows in superheroes.  It took Big J a little while to take interest in cape-clad heroes, but Little J is already smitten and Baby N is right on his heels.  Confession: I rather love superheroes myself so I’m not at all disappointed in their adoration and it gives me a good excuse to indulge in the super-world on occasion.  With MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie coming out this weekend, it seems almost everyone is excited about them.

MARVEL's The Avenger's Age of Ultron Super Heroes Assemble App

We were at Wal-Mart last Saturday and there were all kinds of fun The Avengers items.  We grabbed a few large action figure toys (that I have plans for in another project, stay tuned to get the dirt on that!) and some yummy superhero-laden Doritos.

But there’s more than just toys and treats.  You can get exclusive info and fun activities with the Super Heroes Assemble app (available in the Play Store and the App Store)!  It’s a fun app and my kids are in love – it was one time they didn’t whine the whole time we were running errands.  Gather the troops and Avenger’s Unite!

MARVEL's The Avenger's Age of Ultron Exclusive Content Super Heroes Assemble App

Okay, let me show you some fun features of this app.  Here we go!  From the menu screen you’ll want to start off by unlocking exclusive content by scanning specific images at Wal-Mart, both in store and online at walmart.com/avengers.  So, if you can’t get to the store, you can still play.  I will be completely honest and tell you that sometimes I couldn’t get the images to scan at all in store with my Galaxy S4.  I don’t know why, it’s like my camera wouldn’t focus and there wasn’t a way to try to set a focus point or focus it manually.  However, Mr Napping’s Note 3 didn’t do too bad in store and our Note 10.1 tablet and my S4 did okay on the Wal-Mart website too.  The scanning was a little glitchy, but it’s worth trying a couple (or more) times to get the exclusive content; that’s where the fun is!  There are a couple of specific items you have to scan for some of the content (fruit snacks and Cheez-It crackers, specifically).  My area Wal-Marts didn’t carry them and I was disappointed to miss out on that content.  There’s still a lot you can get just online, but I wanted it all!

Once you have the exclusive content unlocked, the fun really begins.  In the “Suit Up” portion of the app, you can take a selfie or switch the camera and have someone take a photo of you, like I did of Little J.  Then you can add digital stickers to your photo.  Little J thought this was the coolest thing ever.  And, really, how often do you get to dress up as a superhero?  It is pretty fun!  My favorite are the Hulk hands!

In the “Movies” section, you can check out exclusive clips, trailers, photos and teasers to help you get all kinds of excited for the movie.  Both my older boys liked to look at the photos.  It’s a fun behind-the-scenes look at the movie set and filming process.  I love the shot with all the Captain America shields!

This next one was my favorite.  The “Characters” option opens up a screen dedicated to each character with a menu of characters across the top of the screen.  As you scroll down, you’ll find a few different features, including a link back to the “suit up” activity and one to the “photo opp” activity I’ll get to in just a second.  There’s also some cool character art, if you’re feeling like your phone or tablet could use a fun MARVEL’s The Avenger’s background.  My favorites are the sound clips included with some of the characters… because it’s kind of fun to watch your Hulk roar text tone weird your mom out a little.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to check out the “360” portion of the app.  To unlock this content you have to scan a box of Kellogg’s MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron fruit snacks and they aren’t on the shelves of my local Wal-Mart yet.  I’ll have to keep checking though, because it looks like fun!

MARVEL's The Avenger's Age of Ultron Super Heroes Assemble App 360

The “Photo Opp” section was fun and a great way to get my kids to stop whining while I was trying to do some shopping.  I couldn’t get it to scan with them in store on my S4, but Mr Napping’s Note 3 would get it occasionally and it gave him something to do with the boys while I finished up the last little bit of shopping.  They had fun taking pictures with the different characters and I enjoyed shopping without the whining droning in the background.

The “Wishlist” feature allows you to save your favorite products to a wishlist for future reference on your next shopping trip.  It’s pretty self-explanatory.

Overall, this app is a lot of fun.  You have to be a little patient with it, but when you’re successful, it unlocks some cool stuff.  So, next time you’re at Wal-Mart with a little extra time check out all the awesome MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron products and unlock some of the exclusive content on the Super Heroes Assemble app.  My kids are loving it and I’m totally excited for the May 1st release of MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie!  It’s hard to choose just one favorite Avenger, so I’m glad they are all teaming up in this movie!  Avengers Unite!  Who is your favorite Avenger?  Let me know in the comments!
